Traveling with Autism: Air Force Armament Museum

We gave Bryce the choice of visiting a place where he could interact with dolphins or a place where he could see bombs. His current interest in military aircraft and bombs made it

a quick and easy choice for him!

Chris found this museum while looking for places to visit between our home in Port St. Lucie, Florida and our vacation destination in Pensacola, Florida. This museum is located at

the Eglin Air Force base and was a very pleasant surprise for all of us. While we were walking around the outside of the museum checking out aircraft and armament on display,

we heard the loud sounds of approaching military aircraft! This happened for at least ten minutes which was an added bonus to our experience.

Inside the museum, we were greeted by a veteran who was full of friendliness and information. He explained to us that Eglin AF Base is home to F-35 Lightning II aircraft trainers. Admission is free which put another smile on our faces! ☺ The museum has

two floors of memorabilia to see with loads of information. Bryce is a visual learner, so this kind of "field trip" is much more effective than a typical history school class.

We hope this information will inspire you to make a visit if you're in the area. I don't think we can ever show enough appreciation and love for our United State Military! May God continue to Bless America!
