Bryce explored historic Buffalo City Hall in downtown Buffalo, New York! 🏛️ Built in 1931 and dedicated in 1932, this incredible Art Deco landmark stands 32 stories tall and rises nearly 400 feet above Niagara Square. It was one of the largest and most expensive city halls in the country when it was built. One of Bryce’s favorite parts of the visit was seeing the Otis Signal elevators! 🚪🛗 He loved the beautiful gold-toned ornate elevator doors, the illuminated “This Car Up” indicator that lit up when an elevator arrived, the unusual elevator call buttons, and the panel showing the live floor status for each elevator. And yes—Buffalo City Hall really does have a 13th floor! The 13th floor is home to the Common Council Chamber, which features a spectacular art-glass skylight which we did not video. The floor looked busy when we stopped, so we continued the elevator ride. We took the elevator up to the 25th floor and climbed three flights of stairs to reach the observation deck on the 28th floor. From there, we walked around the deck and enjoyed the views of Buffalo! Join us for a tour of the Hilton Garden Inn Buffalo Downtown! This 20-story hotel has only 14 floors available for guests to visit. We were pleasantly surprised to receive an upgrade to a large suite in Room 610 because the room we originally booked was not available! Bryce explores the hotel and checks out one of its unique features—a rare Haughton elevator lift! We also take a look at the fitness center and laundry room, located on the basement level. The hotel has a swimming pool as well, although the pool was under construction during our visit. Another “strike” would be the large spider we found on the bathroom floor during our room tour! 😳 Thankfully, we did not see any others and slept very well. Bryce had an amazing time exploring the Toronto Railway Museum in Toronto, Canada! He got to climb aboard and explore a train engine, caboose, and several train cars, getting an up-close look at railway history. The restored John Street Roundhouse, once a major repair facility for the Canadian Pacific Railway.🚂 location of the museum used to be a round house and still has part of it in place. But the highlight of the visit was definitely the train simulator! Bryce went all the way to The Top of the CN Tower in Toronto, Ontario—the highest observation platform in the Western Hemisphere! 🚀 We started our adventure by riding the CN Tower’s high-speed glass-fronted elevators. The elevators travel from the ground to the Main Observation Level, 346 metres (1,136 feet) above the ground, in just 58 seconds, reaching speeds of about 22 km/h (15 mph)! The elevator cars even have glass floor panels so you can see how quickly you’re traveling upward. At the Main Observation Level, we enjoyed incredible views from 346 metres (1,136 feet)—114 storeys above Toronto. We also explored the Lower Observation Level at 342 metres (1,122 feet), including the famous Glass Floor, where you can look straight down about 342 metres toward the ground! The Glass Floor is made with specially engineered glass strong enough to support visitors more than 340 metres above the ground. Bryce loved checking it out! 😃 But the biggest highlight was going even higher to The Top, located at an incredible 447 metres (1,465 feet)—33 storeys above the Main Observation Level! The Top is the highest observation platform in the Western Hemisphere, and on a clear day, the view can stretch approximately 160 kilometres (100 miles), including toward Niagara Falls and New York State. Bryce got the surprise of a lifetime when a 2004 Thomas school bus pulled up to our home! 🚌💨 Our family friend, who is a school bus driver, helped make this special homeschool field trip possible. Bryce had no idea the bus was coming—and he was SO excited to get a ride to McDonald’s! 🍔🍟 For the first time ever, Bryce got to start the engine of a real school bus! He also got to operate the bus door, opening and closing it himself. 🚌❤️ It was such a fun and memorable experience for a kid who LOVES school buses! While we were watching the beautiful 5-minute fireworks display from our 23rd floor room, nature called Bryce… He left the viewing area for the bathroom and did not close the door! 😳 He contributed his own waterfall sound effects to the show. 😂 We asked him if he wanted us to replace the audio with music or leave it “as is” for the world to hear him singing as nature called.
