Traveling with Autism: Tallahassee Automobile Museum

Updated: Aug 19

Are you a collector? Do you know anyone who likes to collect groups of certain things?

I used to collect bears - Not real bears but bear decorations for my home. I had bears

in the kitchen on dishes, utensils, appliances, and even the pots & pans! I had curio cabinets full of different bear knick-knacks. I collected little stuffed bears from every state that I visited. When Chris and I got married, he couldn't "bear" all of my bears, so I phased them out. Our collection now is Christmas ornaments from each place we visit.

Well, Chris loves cars. If we had endless riches, he might have a car collection like Jay Leno!

While passing through Tallahassee, Chris found this automobile museum. The fun surprise for me was that it was MUCH MORE than automobiles! I have never seen a place with so many large collections of different items in my life. It was very interesting to walk through and see the different collections ranging from different vehicles to fancy cash registers. My favorite collection was the group of beautiful pianos! The artistry designs were incredibly beautiful! Bryce also took interest in learning about different things. I will say that his favorite find in the museum was the elevator - He came up with a variety of reasons for us to go up and down.

I took a lot of pictures to try to give other people an idea of what they can see when they visit. It really was a fun find for our family vacation. I hope you will be able to visit one day, too!

Apparently, I have more pictures than words for this blog post! There were so many things to see that I couldn't capture it all but have enough to give you an idea of what you can expect. Speaking specifically to our autism community, if you or your child have something that you are passionate about and like to collect, it's very likely this place will have a collection for you to enjoy. Give them a call and find it! ☺
